Bandar Lampung, October 28, 2025 — The National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Lampung Province, together with BAZNAS at the district and city levels, and representatives from the Directorate of Research and Development of ZIS–DSKL National BAZNAS gathered at Emersia Hotel Bandar Lampung on Tuesday for a landmark workshop on strengthening the National Zakat Index (IZN) and integrating it into regional development planning.
Opening the program, Governor of Lampung, Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, S.T., M.M., underscored the importance of public trust in zakat management institutions. He called BAZNAS a symbol of the community’s confidence in the government to manage religious social funds responsibly.
“BAZNAS is the symbol of the people’s trust in government. If people lose trust in BAZNAS, it means the government has not fully shown its commitment to serving them,” Governor Mirza asserted.
The Governor stressed that zakat must be managed transparently, accurately, and with measurable impact. He also encouraged the establishment of village-level zakat bodies to expand zakat outreach and services at the grassroots. “The better zakat is managed, the greater the benefits for society, and the stronger the trust in BAZNAS,” he added, urging participants to absorb and apply the knowledge from the training to improve local zakat governance.

The program also featured prominent speakers. Rosy Wediawaty, S.E., M.Sc., M.S.E. from The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas delivered insights on “The National Zakat Index as a Planning Instrument in the Regional Development Information System (SIPD).” This was followed by Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., who presented on evaluating zakat management through macro and micro dimensions of the National Zakat Index and its integration into regional development strategies, with a particular focus on Lampung.
The final session was led by Naila Firdausi, S.E., the IZN PIC, who provided practical guidance on filling out the National Zakat Index questionnaire and utilizing the SigmaZ platform for Zakat Impact Assessment. The training was seen as a milestone for Lampung, reflecting a broader national effort to link zakat governance with sustainable development planning.
